Annnnnnnd… We’re Back

So I’ve done a little house cleaning of late. The old kit was starting to look a bit… dated. Hell, the content has been damn lamentable for … well, let’s not go there. Nikki said that I might want to try blogging a bit more again. If nothing else, I hope that all this means something to me in several years.

With things slowing down to something slightly less crazy, we have actually had a couple weekends that have been low stress and frankly, actually enjoyable. I’ve been working far too hard for far too long.

So, quick wrap-up on general status: Nikki and I had our first visit from a social worker from S Glouc county council, starting off the adoption process. I am still uncertain about how I will fair as a parent, but after today’s visit to the Walker’s, I quite certain that we are on the right track. Our social worker did let us know about several issues in the adoption process, like as many as 1 in 4 to 1 in 6 adoptions fail; the kids have to be placed back into foster care and ultimately go through the whole process again. Further, they have run into issues in the past where grandparents don’t treat adopted children the same as biological ones. Both facts left me completely stunned.

In other news, Nikki has managed to raise £675 in EBay auctions! Woot! Not only is that a good thing generally, it means we can afford to get me a new mac laptop! Double woot! I owe her a lot for this one.

On the medical front, Nikki’s hands swelled a bit after making reeds tonight. She has appointments with a rheumatologist and her endocrinologist in a few weeks. The NHS has its problems, but I am at least thankful that we have it, flawed as it is.

Right, so is this a return to blogging? Wish me luck.
